This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for August 25, 2008
luna - feminine noun (la) - moon. Look up luna in the dictionary Me encanta salir a dar un paseo a la luz de la luna. I love a stroll in the moonlight.

It is, yes. I've met quite a few people named Luna, but it wouldn't make it to a top-500 of common Danish names, though.
In fact, I think it was the very famous children series, Bamse og Kylling (Teddy and Chicken), which made the name popular. One of the characters in the series is named Luna. She's a good friend of both Bamse and Kylling. This talk wakes memories from when I was a child. ![]()

According to a U.S. census site, Luna is ranked 2859th out of 4275 female first names. So, it's not entirely unheard of. I've not personally heard it used myself.
Mary is the most popular female first name in the United States. And, for our beloved pelota, Maria is in seventh place. |
