#4) "Since we don't have school, I took two naps today" In any case, it might be "Hoy dormí dos siestas porque no tenemos escuela". #6) What's your idea?: · "Me preocupo por muchos de mis estudiantes (y entonces no duermo)" -> "I worry about many of my students (so I don't have sleep)" · "No duermo porque tengo mucho trabajo con mis estudiantes" -> "I can't sleep because I have a lot of work with my students"

For #6, I wanted to use the word "concern" and that's what the Tomisimo dictionary said. So, in English, what I wanted to say (simply) was: I have concern for many of my students. I don't know about the losing sleep part. I don't lose sleep for concerns about anything (one of those fortunate people!). Is there a better way to say that? The sample sentences I was using said to use "por" in that case to represent an emotion that you have FOR someone.....

I'm getting addicted to the website, and spend almost all my spare time here. "I have concern for many students" = "Me preocupo por muchos estudiantes" = "Me preocupan muchos estudiantes" Ok...I see. I think it's rather me then. When I see "desvelo" it's not always "concern" what comes to my mind. "Desvelarse" is not to be able to sleep, for any reason --party, concerns, insomnia... "Desvelarse por algo" is to be so worried about something that you don't sleep. It can also mean that you care much for your work and/or you make many efforts to reach a goal. The idea is that you care so much for something, that you don't sleep. Being sleepless can be of course understood in a figurative sense. In any case, the sentence is odd, but not incorrect, and the use of "por" is alright.
