Hello.

Tonight I have a question, that I presume that everyone happened sometime, when I don't practice for a long time my English, I tend to forget the English and I try to remind the word but my brain doesn't help me in that moment, in fact sometimes I speak well the language and I grasp to understand everything in one call to Houston's people but sometimes when I didn't practice during longs periods for be exactly four day or more less, I can't concentrate me very well in the phrases or words.

Then the questions is I must to do for don't forget the English very often.

I need read more?

I haven't much time already I'm Chief technical support and Chief Network, and I haven't much time inclusive sometimes I don't post anything during long days.

Do you have seen it?

Then I would like to know a method or less some kind to new form for me that it help me to remind me the English each time I decide to do it.

How often you practice your English.

I wrote bad the public poll.

I will be grateful with your commentary.

Please give me some many methods tested in your ordinary life.

Thank you very much.

Yes always I do that, inclusive when I create all my electronics documents, they are completely written in English, here in my work all I use or write in English.

Sometimes when I've a few time for me, I search partners that know English and in essence I speak with them, that is the unit way I can practice during all my busy day.

Do you have other commentary?

For me, with Spanish, it has more to do with how tired I am. If I have plenty of energy, I can understand most Preschool or Kindergarten level tv shows with the Spanish subtitles on, or non-fiction books or websites that are written in academic, formal, language, but I have to concentrate about twice as hard than when reading something in English. If I am really tired and can't concentrate, then it is better that I put it away and read it when I have more energy, or I won't be able to understand it very well. However my level of Spanish is much lower than your level of English.

Yes I agree with you completely, I watch read a lot of in English truly always I'm writing in English and when I have the chance to speak with someone in English, I do, then mostly I stay in my place when I need concentrate me more of the necessary, therefore I put more attention when I need to say or write something in my post or my job report, because all my reports as my job let me does it, I write them completely in English.

In order to learn more English, before I would write all my new words in a personal list for me.

Sincerely yours.

I wouldn't say that the most important thing when learning a language is the fact of acquiring more and more vocabulary. You should learn also grammar and syntactic rules (and pronunciation, of course). If you're spending your time writing mistakes, you'll never learn. You should have somebody to correct simple sentences and later start with more complicated ones. I see that you fail very often in the construction of your sentences. First, you should learn the English syntax (I mean, some notions) before writing so much.

I know, my English is not perfect, but when I'm corrected, I try to understand the reason.

I hope it helps.

I wouldn't say I forget the language (English or Spanish) but sometimes when I am having a conversation in just Spanish I tend to run out of Spanish then I continue in English. I know it sounds weird but that is how I feel.

I need to just go a day speaking Spanish but then it also depends on who I am speaking with. Professionally, I've done it while working but usually I tend to run out when I am in a more casual setting.

Do you understand what I am saying? Does it happen to you?

Dudo si puedo hablar solamente en castellano por un día sin usando inglés también, a causa de no sé mucha gramática.

Yes.

I want to share sometime with you for example today is more tonight, I can't write correctly my English, because I'm tired and I don't have a lot of animus of write in English, although I try to do it, really because I like so much this language, that I force myself my brain, but only I get a headache instead of I get the answer to the trouble.

I don't know why but sometimes I try to leave the English language for a few time and I leave my brain to rest a little time, so I can refresh me, but I can't achieve much, now I didn't remember the word achieve and I had to search it again when I have wrote that word a bunch of time, and It twice time yesterday I use that.

Therefore that result unbelievable for me, because all the days I study the language in my life to life, and it result very frustrate for me, then.

What should I do?

Do you believe that I need to take vitamins?

For I don't forget the English words.

Essentially I made corrections to your post in the quote, but I also changed a lot of the wording, giving the same essential meaning, but with some different words.

Creo que en los recovecos de la memoria, la lengua madre es la que domina. He notado que los italianos de origen napolitana o salentina, por ejemplo cuando están agitados o enojados, se expresan en dialecto napolitano o salentino. Yo que hablo todo el día italiano, cuando estoy estresado hablo castellano.

@CrOtALiTo: Do you actually have conversations in English or, are you limited to written English usage? Are you taking lessons or are you learning by yourself?

Learning a language by yourself is far more difficult because when you have questions you have no one to ask.

If you actually speak with people who master English, ask them to correct every mistake you make. That is very important. If they don't do it, you are going to think that what you're saying is right.

Having a good grasp of grammar is very important. Pay a lot of attention to how the sentences are grammatically formed (syntax).

It seems to me that you actually translate from Spanish, almost literally, when you write in English, and that's not something you want to do because the sentence structure in both languages is very different.

Keep trying because you are doing very well so far...

Sí, de acuerdo. Yo hablo inglés todo el día, mi marido es americano y no habla casi que ni una palabra de español, y en estos días íbamos en el carro (coche) por una autopista y otro carro cambió de carril y casi se nos vino encima. Yo inmediatamente, sin pensarlo, grité "¡para!" en vez de "stop!"

Hello.

Nowadays I practice in both cases because how I write in English completely in the forums, I speak with American people or British people already I have a charge in my company where I need to ask quotes of new equipments for sells in the company, therefore I speak for telephone or other average communication, then when I need to do a question, I tend to do the question here in the forums without wait more time, because you know the question not always will be in your brain all the time, nowadays I don't take any kind to training for me or lesson in English, because all the day I'm working and I haven't time, nor I have enough for me hahahaha.

Don't worry I understand everything you wrote me lovable in this post, in fact I have notice me that I can understand more one conversation spoken in English and perfectly I can speak with I'm calm down in my desktop in front of the laptop.

Crotalito, how often do you read an English grammar book and practice small exercises, checking your answers and correcting your mistakes? I think you could hugely improve your English if you spent more time studying the grammar and less time writing so much Almost all text books have practice exercises, along with the answers at the back of the book.

Here's one you can read online: http://es.scribd.com/doc/25019915/Gr...-Paso-a-Paso-1 and http://es.scribd.com/doc/28350293/Gr...-Paso-a-paso-2
