I like dogs but my mom is a bit scared of them. She also thinks that they are messy and will easily break things. Having a dog will just add to the work we have to do. Cats too.
We have fish (some died) and 2 turtles. My older brother is the main owner of the mantis, several insects, and the silk moths.

I'm not allergic to them but, either I don't like them, because I feel your hair in my nose when they brush off all their hair fly in the wind and fall down in my body or nose it's nasty.

I like dogs and cats but I don't have any because they are a big responsibility and I don't have the time to take care of them.

I dislike having birds in cages.....I don't believe I would ever want one. Gold fish don't do anything, why have them? Turtles, snakes, spiders/tarantulas and other similar bugs/animals don't really make a pet because they don't do anything, so why have them?
Rats, mice, hamsters, ferrets, squirrels, etc. are rodents! Why in God's name would anyone, ever want to have one? UGH!!

Yeah, I'm bothered spiders, they are very nasty, when I see a rat or spider, I kill them without think, either I don't like eat fish, jejeje, but anyway my wife loves eat fish, although I life in a place where there is sea and beaches, look, I like the dogs, hamsters, I believe that units animals I want, because if I see a cat or spider, I'm going to my house by a box and later I will put them inside of the box and I will give the animals to a veterinary.

We have a turtle, but I tend to forget it exists, but my husband says he finds it relaxing, he just looks at it moving around and jumping from its little island into the water. I say 'it' because we are not even sure if the poor creature is male or female, only that he/she eats a lot and grows at an alarming speed. And I don't fancy the idea of a terrapin walking around the house when the bowl becomes too small...I'm no Beatrix Potter....
We originally bought it for the children, but now it's my 'other-half''s responsibility.
I don't dislike pets either, but as you've said they're a big responsibility. I think I've already done my bit by having three kids (and keeping them).
My daughter's dream is to have a Westie and I guess she'll get a dog as soon as she leaves home, just like my sister did.

So, Maria Jose aside from watching the turtle grow is there any other purpose for the tortoise? I guess it would be interesting to watch it grow and see if it does anything. How can you tell if it is male or female? Is it obvious as in humans or do you have to delve into the unknown?

I also have two dogs, both were strays that we found on the streets, one i've had from a small puppy, and the other we found wounded a couple of years ago, they are both obedient and loving dogs. However, my mother in law has about 10 cats, out of the 10 there are two that are O.K, the others are not very pleasant at all. I would definately pick dogs over cats.
