Any 'pronouncing' sites on the Net?
Does anyone know of any sites on the Net that has tons of Spanish words where you can just click on a word and get the pronunciation? All I'm looking for is pronunciations, not definitions, something quick and easy.

Well, there aren't tons of words here, but a few. But I think it could be interesting.

Try acapela. You select a voice (scroll down for Spanish, and select whether you want to listen to a guy or a gal). Then, type in the text you want the voice to say.
The pronunciation is very good. If you want one word at a time: http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/ |

I just tried it in Firefox, and I still see the scroll bar. Make sure you're seeing a scroll bar. It has an up arrow at the top of the bar. It has a down arrow at the bottom. There's a white bar in between the two arrows. In the white bar, there is a blue square. Either click and drag the blue square, or click on the arrows.
The 'Demos & More' link will reload the page, if needed. The initial screen shows no scroll bar. You have to click on the down arrow icon to the right of 'English (US) - Heather'. |

You can install a text-to-speech software and a Spanish voice engine on your computer, by default, there is only Microsoft Anna voice in English on Windows 7. Then you can just click on a word and get the pronunciation even mp3 audio files.

Not sure if someone gave this already,

You're welcome.
I believe the BBC has one site for "English" pronunciations, as in the "standard ones" for any and all parts of the globe, names of important people, you name it. I bet there is some similar "pronunciation" bible somewhere for Spanish/Castilian... and the other varieties of Spanish... ![]() |
