Ahora bien, ¿qué se pretende lograr con esa diligencia? The above is the DRAE defintion for "ahora" (now). Now, my question has to do with definition 6. I.e., when "now" means "but, however" which is used in English many times in a colloquial register, sometimes, why, without any meaning, (besides the adversative sense...) In some of my translated speeches (colloquial register) I have been told more than once that I may be using an excess of "ahora"s in this sense... Yet, I follow the original English... Ahora, ¿qué percepción tenéis vosotros/tienen ustedes... de esta palabrita? I am writing in English and Spanish, as I'd like views from both English speakers and Spanish ones alike, about this matter... (Probably not a very crucial issue, but interesting to me...)

Gracias por tu punto de vista. (La considero una muletilla también, pero a veces he usado este "ahora" en el sentido de "ahora bien" en un lenguaje coloquial...)

Sí, es una muletilla, a veces uno sin darse cuenta empieza a usar una palabra con demasiada frecuencia y si alguien no se lo hace ver, uno ni se entera.
