Yes, I have heard it before, the people says influencia instead of influenza. In fact people in the TV says influencia, I believe that the people takes the thread as one joke and sometimes it's good because it makes happy to the people in times to fear.

Then it turn to be normal in says Influencia instead of Influenza.

I believe that if you don't have the habit to say influencia never you will be influencia.

I mean it was my own commentary.

Maybe it's similar to when people say diferiencia instead of diferencia.

I agree, with you, David. Most of it is true... but the fact that "influencia" is a common word and "influenza" is almost new, makes people rather think about the most common one first and suddenly you find you said it faster than you thought. *wearing a paperbag*

Influenza is not a simple gripe... it's a stronger virus.

Wait, I am 55 y.o. and I remember my mom commenting the news sometime when I was 5 o 7 y.o. and that word stuck in my mind, "influenza". She said something about some country being striken by it or something. Maybe it was the name it was given. Chinese influenza or something to that effect.

Are you calling me young?

I love you!
