Question Viaje a Uruguay

- ¿Viajaste alguien a Uruguay?
- ¿Cómo es?
- ¿Cómo es la comida? ¿Le gente? ¿El tiempo invierno? ¿Los autobuses? (etc)

Is "quedar" most often used with a reflexive pronoun, or did I just happen upon a couple of uses that should have had those pronouns?

a = ah
e = eh
i = ee
o = awe
u = oo

Example: Cawe mawe seh jahmah oostehd? (read that in English) and you'll be on your way to speaking Spanish, and very well if you pay attention to what you are hearing from other people, so that you can correct yourself and adjust your mind to it. Even taking different drawls in account.

I don't know anything about Uruguay and less about Argentine, but I believe that if you are able to have one conversation with your friend about the places where you want to meet in the country, beside you can ask her about the typical food in the place. And you can ask her about the museums and other things also you can visit the cinemas the places where there are woods and forest, I don't know perhaps I'm being a little silly with my commentary, but I believe that if you arrive to Uruguay, you must to ask her about as the people life in that place.

There is someone who has a better idea than my idea.

Of course ... I have been and will continue to talk with my friend about all of these things. But I was also wondering if there is anyone here at Tomisimo who has input about Uruguay so that I'm not getting all of my information from just one place......

I know lots about Mexico, and virtually nothing about Uruguay. Although I imagine some things are quite similar (in comparison to the US).

I guess the biggest thing to try to get ready for are the cultural differences. There will be so many differences that you will feel totally out of place, confused, etc. Things that you take for granted will be missing and they will take things for granted that you have no clue about, which can lead to misunderstandings. Tread softly, keep your eyes wide open, and try to be ready for completely unexpected stuff.

Have you traveled out of North America before?

Oh, yes - quite a few times. I have mostly spent time in Europe, but have also been to Africa once. Europe gives a bit of culture shock to this American ... but Africa was a whole different ball game! And my friend in Lima who I'll be going to see next has been prepping me for feeling like I've gone to another planet when I arrive in Lima. I am definitely ready for the cultural misunderstandings. I met these two friends when they were at a conference in DC, and the one from Lima already lives in New York ... so I think that they'll be very helpful in my acclamation to their respective cultures.....

I'd be kind of surprised if none of the Latin Americans here on Tomisimo have been to Uruguay................

I've asked an Argentinian friend of mine and she's told me that a good place in Urugay is "Punta del Este", with white beaches and blue sea. Maybe it's a bit turistic.

I hope you enjoy your stay there
