Velar y velatorio vienen de vigilar, no de vela. Pero en todos los velatorios (velorios en Argentina) se vela un cadáver, y suele haber velas. Si velar significa vigilar, ¿es que puede marcharse el cadáver?

Es la primera vez que oí la palabra velatorio (parece un laboratorio donde producen nuevos tipos de velas, tal vez algunos que hielen a fresa artificial). Velorio se usa en latinoamerica--no solo Argentina. En inglés velatorio es candle light vigil. ¿Piensas tener uno para el difunto Jaimito?

Conozco velorio por la literatura de Cortázar. No creo que se pueda extender a toda Sudamérica. Es demasiado grande como para pensar que comparten una sola forma para velatorio /velorio / ...

¿Un botín? Jaimito wasn't a pirate. He could only have left an inheritance (una herencia) for me. But he lived all his life in a dignified poverty.

In my country, is a culture to do a candle light vigil to their dead, I believe that on all the world. As the dead´s day.
