Is the preposition 'de' or 'a' correct in this sentence?

OR

My textbook has written "de", but I feel like the correct preposition is "a".

A different thing:

(only colloquial, it should be "por")

It sounds archaic to me. Like "quedo agradecido de usted". We use "a". I wonder if "de" would be used in another countries.
Out of curiosity, how old is your textbook? Which country is it from?

Like in "quedo gradecido de vuestra merced". As a merced is a thing, this is the only link I can imagine between "agradecido de" and a person.
