Do I need to use the subjunctive in this sentence?
This is the sentence that I am trying to use. Are the verbs in the correct tense/mode (indicative or subjunctive) or not?
"Para solucionar este problema, la gente debe siempre continuar aumentando la conciencia de los otros sobre la igualdad de género en todas partes del mundo y en todos contextos, hasta que esta cuestión sea resuelta y hasta que la gente esté convencida de que el mundo ha llegado a ser un lugar donde todos son iguales, tienen las mismas oportunidades de empleo y son igualmente recompensados por sus esfuerzos" Also, if there are other ways in which this sentence could be improved, I'll appreciate if you could let me know. Thank you |

Thanks for the replies. Both of them are very helpful.
If I decide to stick with the subjunctive for the whole sentence, should I say: Para solucionar este problema, la gente debe siempre continuar aumentando la conciencia de los otros sobre la igualdad de género en todas partes del mundo y en todos contextos, hasta que esta cuestión sea resuelta y hasta que la gente esté convencida de que el mundo haya llegado a ser un lugar donde todos sean iguales, tengan las mismas oportunidades de empleo y sean igualmente recompensados por sus esfuerzos" ? Also, good advice for the 1st person plural, but for this assignment I'm not allowed to use 1st person :S. Thank you ![]() |

also incrementando (aumentando is an unusual colocation because it also implies size) "hasta que la gente esté convencida de que el mundo ha llegado a ser un lugar donde todos son iguales, tienen las mismas oportunidades de empleo y son igualmente recompensados por sus esfuerzos" subjunctive was wrong there, people is conviced or may eventually be convinced of something specific.
