"Here's the thing"
I'm assuming that "Aqui es la cosa" isn't a good idiomatic translation...
Any translations for "Here is the thing?" (I know it's kind of a "filler" phrase, but could be useful to know).

Here's the thing is an idiomatic phrase we use as a filler and it indicates we are about to explain something. I think a good translation in Spanish would be:
Here's the thing... Lo que pasa es que... Mira, te lo voy a explicar... El asunto aquí es... etc.
