Afrontar

Gracias

Mmm... "afrontar" is "to face up"... I guess here is just "enfrentar" as in "being in front of"?

"Enfrentar" "arrostrar"

One of the greatest characteristics of literature is that language expands itself to say much more than a dictionary can tell, and Monterroso is a master in using and exploring those capabilities of language.

"Afrontar" is used here because the writer is describing people who get in a bus as if they were facing some kind of danger, as they're full of unknown people, and sometimes they're even more scared to find a familiar face inside.
