Trial and error

Today I was watching a Tv program on Marsupials and I heard the expression trial and error multiple times. Can anyone set a couple of examples and give an equivalent of the phrase in Spanish?

That phrase is a sentence colloquial in my country it want to means that you're watching the place where you going to go in some moments.

I mean, for instance.


Rosa estas tanteando mi llegada.

Rosa. You're waiting my arrived.

In this example Rosa is waiting for the arrive to him, as you can see the word is exchange of another, therefore waiting and tanteando are completely the same.

Sorry I am confused, is 'tantear' the same as 'esperar' then, or is it used also in a different way (more as to ' carefully try' or something similar?)

Could someone give some examples of how to use the word 'tantear' as in the abovementioned 'trial and error' please?

No, look if you can understand the difference of the use of the word tantear means you are doing something as watching something or to someone.

For example.
