Someone who doesn't quite play by the rules. A conniver is someone who
knows how to avoid facing certain ugly confrontations, but somehow gets their way. A good conmen is a conniver. I think the fancy word for conniver is someone who is mercurial. I wonder what a good word for conniver would be in Spanish? Conniver is never a positive term, but someone who knows how to connive may have a postive slant. Certainly a good politician must no how to connive in order to survive (as does a good basketball player) . But if he or she is known to be a conniver he or she will soon be out of office.

Work Reference is not on target here. Connivers are not necessarily conspirators (I certainly wouldn't want to conspire with one for fear of getting involved in a baile de gallinas

Look at what Merriam-Webster says. I guess "to conspirate" would be a way to use it also. |

It's a special kind of liar. It's a lie that can involve an action and may not involve word. I think Bernard Madoff is a conniver who finally go caught in his "grift". Grifters are connivers.
I never heard of the word taimado, but it seems to fit the definition. Ladino maybe?

Weasels are connivers.....
To vamp things up means to make them more outstanding, more showy, more noticeable.....

-O- un hombre ladino (man with a high pitched voice)
But I don't see it used that way at all and I don't see that definition in any of the dictionaries. Has anyone else heard it used that way before? ![]()

Farsante (a faker): yes conivvers are fakers, but its a special kind of engaño. Tramposo: yes connivers are cheaters, but tramposo isn't sufficiente. A conniver will get himself out of trouble if he gets caught with convincing excuses. Embaucador: I think you're getting warm here. I never heard this word before, but at least, the dictionary definition fits well.
