I meant that you "meet" somebody once, conoces a alguien una vez, te lo presentan o lo conoces casualmente (meet también significa reunirse o encontrarse con alguien). Pero cuando ya lo has conocido la primera vez, dices "know": I know him very well, lo conozco muy bien.
