Baremación

Please, I´m having a hard time understanding this sentence...
¨ Documentación justificativa de los méritos alegados para la baremación de la solicitudes (tal como se indica en el apartado 6. Criterios para la baremación de la admisión.)¨

Creo que baremación es como valoración o evaluación- evaluation or assessment.

A possible translation:
Documents that corroborate professed merits, for application assessment (as indicated in section 6. Admission assessment criteria.)
Let´s see what the native speakers say.

I couldn't find baremacion in my biggest dictionary, but baremar means to calculate, to reckon, to measure.

De la DRAE:
Acción y efecto de establecer un baremo (cuadro gradual para evaluar).

Baremo:
Cuadro gradual establecido convencionalmente para evaluar los méritos personales, la solvencia de empresas, etc., o los daños derivados de accidentes o enfermedades.

I can add very little information, but to confirm that baremación is a widely used word in Spain meaning assessment criteria.

I'm giving you an example of baremación académica, just in case it may clarify the usage of this word:


Criterios de evaluación de Culturas Hispánicas
  • Participación en Blackboard y Blog: 10%
  • Participación en clase y cinefórum: 10%
  • Artículo semanal, ½ pág, sobre un contenido de la U.D anterior: 20%
  • Ensayo, 5 páginas máximo, sobre España y los españoles: 20%
  • Examen test, mitad de curso: 20%
  • Examen test, final de curso: 20 %
