También "deplorable fallecimiento" o "lamentable fallecimiento" y quizá también "aciago fallecimiento" o "desgraciado".
"Penoso" "desdichado"...

I think you got a good point Crotalito.
"El lamentable fallecimiento" collocates well. "El lamentable acontecimiento" is actually a bit contradictory... or it could refer, let's say, to the event of Hitler rising to power in Germany...

Bueno, si se trata de la muerte de un familiar cercano, definitivamente es un suceso de gran importancia. Pero parece que Katerina ya entendió el significado y lo va a traducir al griego, no va a cambiar la frase en español.

Cierto, lo que pasa es que de "fallecimiento" a "acontecimiento" hay un salto conceptual importante... de ahí que la observación de Crotalito, para los hispanos me parece "apropos" oséase, pertinente... y creo que le ayuda a Katerina, en caso de que se pudiera haber despistado... que bien lo dice la máxima latina: Aliquando bonus dormitat Homerus [Sometimes (even) good Homer nods]
